In my organization, IIWC, I could say that we link people with less opportunities to others who has more through international voluntary service. In some projects we work directly with them, some others we link to some local partners to assist our volunteers work with them for the needy.
As last year I was engaged in a friendship to a friend from Czech Republic who also had teach me new foreign language, Czech language, which is quiet difficult to remember every word of it…hehehe….
Her name is Lucie, or Lucka, that’s how I call her. I have no direct relations with her project unless we were in the same umbrella of organization, IIWC, but she works with our partner ASA for street children. How we are engaged into friendship? Hehe…let only us know…
Anyway, she has an angel heart to still keep in touch with the street children here in Indonesia and help them in the future, though she could’ve been just leaving away all those memories behind without any tracks to line up after.
Instead of that, she creates a sustainable project to keep helping the street children in Semarang, especially Wulan who has a special talent and big eagerness to learn many things, by selling some jewelries made of natural materials such as stone, shells, etc.
